Zahrbat
A tribute to his father whom he lost at a very young age, who went to France to burn up his life around smoky tables, consumed by an obsession with playing cards.
La passion du jeu, le poker, le goût du risque qui animait ce père, entrent en résonance avec l’histoire du fils, sa passion pour la danse et l’excitation qu’il ressent à entrer en scène. Le père et le fils se confondent dans ce désir de partir, de foncer, de s’enivrer ! Dépouillé de tous les fastes du hip-hop, entouré de très belles lumières, Brahim Bouchelaghem, en virtuose et superbe danseur, nous fait aimer ce père… Une confession publique pleine de sincérité et d’émotion.
“Tout fiévreux de liberté, pour sortir de l’adolescence, il s’en vint en France, avec ou sans compagne et sa naïveté.” Le père de Brahim Bouchelaghem, parti d’Algérie pour travailler dans le Nord de la France, n’a jamais cessé de vivre à travers son fils.
Brahim Bouchelaghem, auteur de ce solo, tout à la fois souvenir et hommage. Hommage à ce père qui n’a jamais cessé de vivre à travers son fils…
A tribute to the indefectible link that has always united these two beings. Tribute to their respective passions: for the father, passion for the game, for the son, passion for the dance. With Zahrbat, Brahim offers a stop on memory, a dedication piece that expresses what he was never able to say to his father who transmitted him a fever, a taste for risk and light. What the father lived the cards in hand, from game table to game table, the son strangely pursues it from scene to scene.
It is a journey without return to Algeria, at once land, roots and heritage.
This solo, both energetic and moving, reveals the opening of hip hop to an artistic sensibility carried by personal stories: here is an intimate homage whose choreographic writing, in perfect osmosis with the scenography, images, music and lights, restores the childlike look of a virtuoso dancer. A game during a dance, between spades, clubs, hearts and diamonds.
