Battle Brams

Since 2006, Brahim Bouchelaghem has initiated a principle of recurrent meetings between young amateur dancers from the North of France: the Battle Brams. First in Wattrelos, then at the Condition Publique in Roubaix, Brahim Bouchelaghem offers six meetings per year to young dancers, based on the principle of battles well established in hip hop culture.

The dancers, without the objective of winning a prize or a reward, challenge each other in a friendly way, exchanging movements and figures under the direction of Brahim Bouchelaghem.

From Battle Brams to Battle Brams, they train, create new moves, improve their technique in order to be up to the challenge of the next meeting. Communication takes place through informal networks, blogs, texting, and is limited to a community of dancers exclusively interested in their discipline.

Battle Brams constitutes a space of expression, exchange and creativity for a public which often escapes the institutional social and cultural devices.
