Composer - 1996
Nicolas De Zorzi
Pianist, improviser and composer, born in 1975, Nicolas de Zorzi started as a bass player in alternative music bands. He then trained in classical harmony at the Paris Conservatory, and has collaborated with singers, short film directors and sound design agencies.
His meeting with the choreographer Carolyn Carlson in 2003 led him to devote himself to music for dance. He is the author of the original soundtracks of several of her shows: "Double Vision", "Immersion", "Wind Woman", and regularly improvises on the piano during her masterclasses.
He also composes for the image (documentaries) and for other contemporary dance and hip-hop companies, which earned him a nomination at the Qwartz Music Electronic Awards in 2009 for the creation "Clepsydre" by the Collectif 6ème sens.
His music combines contemplation and emotion, exploring electronic, minimalist and classical genres. His pieces unfold like a succession of paintings, sound landscapes, from which emerges a flow, an organic impulse.
